Thin Walls: Neighbor Noise

Last updated: October 8, 2026

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no account, no server of ours, and no analytics or advertising code. We do not receive your sound, sound levels, times, notes or reports.

What the app keeps on your iPhone

Per-second sound levels and times, a log of starts, stops and interruptions, a summary of each night, and the notes you type. It does not save audio. It keeps the sound in memory for under a second to calculate levels, then discards it. The app also keeps a short technical log for each night, with things like when the app moved to the background, the battery level and whether the iPhone was hot. It stays on your iPhone and is not part of any report or export. The optional recipient you type in the report screen stays on your iPhone and only appears in the PDF you export.

Sharing

Files go only where you send them (for example by AirDrop, Mail or print). We do not see them.

Apple

Purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. If you chose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may give us aggregated crash data and usage statistics that do not personally identify you.

Keeping and deleting

Your records stay on your iPhone until you delete them. In the app, Settings has Delete all nights, which removes every saved night at once. Deleting the app removes them too. We cannot recover them. They may be included in your own iPhone backups, and deleting them in the app does not delete copies in your backups. A few small marks that the app keeps in the iOS Keychain, such as whether your free first export was used, can stay on the iPhone after you delete the app. They contain no sound, levels, times or notes.

Age check

In places where the law requires apps to check age, the app asks iOS for your age range (Apple's Declared Age Range) before you accept the Terms of Use. The answer stays on your iPhone. We do not receive it, and the app does not save your age range. The app keeps only a short note on your iPhone that records the result of the check.

Children

The app is for adults only and is not directed to children under 13.
